A salon for little dogs

Mr Potts is your extra small to medium dog grooming specialist! We strive to provide your pups with the best salon experience to make their grooming feel like a treat. We, unfortunately, don’t have the facilities to cater to our large dog friends.

What might classify as a small dog in breed classification isn’t how we refer to it in our categories. To ensure you select the right size and service, please double-check the size guide when booking!

Our Services

  • Bath + Towel dry

    $40 / $50 / $60

Not all of the furry folk require a blow dry - some simply don’t love it! So we don’t make you pay for something you don’t need or your pup simply doesn’t love. No blow-dry, no worries.

    • Shampoo & conditioner

    • Ears cleaned

    • Perfume

    • Towel dry

  • Bath + Blow-dry

    $70 / $80 / $90

This is our recommended service for the dogs that have a little extra fur that needs help drying and smoothing. The bath and blow-dry is our most regularly booked package.

    • Full-body massage

    • Ears cleaned

    • Nails clipped and filed

    $90 / $100 / $110

All the bells and whistles! This is like your Bath and Blow-Dry package, just with some extra details and attention to areas that require a little extra hygiene care. If your dog is a bit of an adventure & outdoors junkie, this is the package we recommend.

    $130 / $140 / $150

This is the Mr Potts ritz! For your shorter summer-styled clips. If your fur child looks like they simply need a good spa day (don’t we all), book them in for this. If you have preferences for how you like your mate to be groomed, we’ll cater to that. Please arrive a little earlier to your appointment so we can talk about how short or long you would like the coat.

    • Shampoo & conditioner

    • Full body massage

    • All our hygiene treatments

    • Nails clipped and filed

    • A full fluff dry, with a full-body hair cut 1cm or shorter and styled face

  • Style groom

    $140 / $150 / $160

This is for your longer-styled clips, breed specific or traditional haircuts.

The below pricing is just a guide, and depending on your design requests it may be tailored to match so that you are not overcharged. If you have any questions about pricing or style grooming options, just ask! We are happy to help and love to be creative.

FAQs

  • Unfortunately no. We like to keep the salon as quiet and calm as possible; we send a message 15 minutes before we finish the groom so you can make your way down in time to pick up your dog.

  • As soon as you get your dog home you should work on desensitising them to aspects of grooming eg brushing and touching face and feet to get them used to being handled. We are able to have your puppy in for their first professional groom any time 10 days after their 3rd and final vaccine. We would recommend our hygiene appointment to introduce them to grooming.

  • This depends on what your preferences are! There is a description of what each service includes, any questions feel free to send a text or email to make sure you’re booked in for the right service. Each service takes different allocations of time so if you’re unsure reach out!

  • This will depend on your dogs coat type, how long you get their hair cut and if you groom well at home in between. Short clips can be done 6-8 weeks. If you like a longer clip this will require more maintenance and we would recommend 4-6 weeks with a hygiene appointment or bath and blow dry in between.

  • Depending on the size/ service you’ve selected the times range between 30 mins for a bath or hygiene, grooms or style grooms are generally around 1-1.5 hours

  • The best way to secure a time and day to suit you and your pup! Booking online is super easy and ensures you’ll get a reminder message the days before your groom and a confirmation email that has a link that will allow you to easily change or cancel your appointment if something comes up!

  • Your dog must be up to date with all vaccines, worming flea and tick treatment for the safety of all the other dogs!

  • Unfortunately, we cannot accommodate medium to large dogs in our small salon. We and the salon just aren’t built for it.

If you book an appointment and bring a pup over 10kg, we will sadly have to refuse our services and require full payment for the appointment.

  • We have many amazing vet practices in the surrounding areas but our absolute favourite is Ascot Vet. Dr Scott has many years of experience.

  • We understand it can feel like a long time away from your pup in a new environment; in 15 years of grooming puppies of all sizes and temperaments, we have seen they behave best when the parents are absent. It can be distracting for the puppy, the groomer and other dogs in the salon to have you stay during grooming and become a safety hazard.

If you have any questions or want to look at the opportunity to stay, please get in touch with us before the appointment.

  • We are a gentle focused, force-free salon. We are able to brush out small knots but larger knots in bigger quantities will be shaved so as not to cause discomfort or stress to your pooch. The blades go under the knot, not through it so the blade length will be determined by how close the mats are to the skin. If it is heavily matted we have additional charges that will be discussed at the booking drop off. Matted fur damages our equipment so we will clip your dog in this condition as a once-off and it will be advised to you how to best maintain it which will then be up to you to keep it maintained.

  • For safety, we do not groom any snappy or aggressive dogs with a history of biting no matter the severity. It is considered too high risk, not only for staff but the dog too. We do not keep muzzles in the salon. If your dog snaps they will be sent home immediately and we have another salon we will recommend to try.

  • We do not have cages in the salon but if you’re concerned about them interacting with other dogs, let us know! We have the ability to put them on separate sides of the fence and away from others.

  • We do have a gentle protein option available for dogs with more sensitive skin, if you have one you like to use or a medicated one of course you’re welcome to bring it along! Just let us know any special methods or instructions!

  • We are pet stylists, not show groomers, we can do anything you request but in the case of shaving a double-coated dog, we would recommend a good strip out of the undercoat as a full groom rather than shaving the coat. Their hair is hollow and self-insulating, shaving their insulation off can have an opposite effect by taking off that hair they are closer to the sun, less protected and unable to regulate their own temperature. There have been a number of studies done on this and if you google information on ’shaving a double-coated dog’ you will have the resources to make your own decision around this.

  • In a case that you are late, this may disrupt the remaining appointments for the day (the same when you are late to a doctors appointment) due to this we prefer not to rush our clients following your appointment. You may be able to downgrade depending on the time left, we could do a hygiene appointment, bath or towel dry depending on how late you are. You still will be charged as your booked appointment and if you still require a full haircut you will need to book for a later date. To prevent all this disappointment, plan your trip ahead and aim to be early just in case!

  • You’re able to cancel any appointments online super easy! The link for this will be in your confirmation email! You will see the cancellation policy and need to agree to it before being able to book with Mr Potts. If you cancel on the day of your appointment there will be a cancellation fee, if you don’t let us know before your appointment and do not show you will be charged full service cost no exceptions. You also may risk future appointments being cancelled. We would hate for this to happen so just let us know and we can advertise your appointment and hopefully fill it! If we are able to fill your appointment on the day we will not charge the cancellation fee!
